 Speaker:

CAPT Dean Vanderley, USN

Commanding Officer

NAVFAC MIDLANT

April’s dinner meeting will feature a topic that is critically important to effective readiness, yet one that we don’t focus on enough as a ship repair community… the public and private infrastructure where we fix, maintain and modernize our ships. This past November NAVSEA issued a Public Shipyard Optimization Plan, highlighting requirements for $21 Billion of investment over the next 20 years, and they are now working on a Private Sector Optimization Strategy they intend to issue in late 2018. This plan will address how we improve our processes, workforce and yes infrastructure to meet the challenges of a future 355 ship Navy.

We are most privileged to have the Commanding Officer of NAVFAC Mid-Atlantic, CAPT Dean VanderLey, to inform us on what’s happening today and also shine some light on both the public and private infrastructure requirements and plans ahead.
